All Sahaba go to heaven (Sunni doctrine)

''This is a sub-article to Sunni view of the Sahaba.

Sunni doctrine includes the concept that all Sahaba go to heaven, due to the uprightness of all Sahaba. This has been traditionally interpreted as the ten Sahaba were granted paradise during their life times and the remainder were given a promise of entering paradise after death:
Sunni view
Sunni write::''Undoubtedly, such phrases as did all the Sahaba enjoin what is good and forbid what is wrong? No shall come as millstones around the neck of their speakers on the Day of Judgment, when they shall be facing the Sahaba - and the Prophet (saw)- in shame. And Allah Most High might ask them: What business did you have reviling the men and women I chose as Companions for My Most Beloved, Most Respected, Most Praised Servant?? [1]

And also::''Allah has chosen the sahaba over all of humankind. He has promised them heaven because of their patience and strong faith [2]

Sunni also write::The general body of Sahaba were told about the heavens, whilst the special Sahaba were told about special occurrences. Hazrath Bilal was told about how his footsteps were heard in Heaven (Jannah) because he always remained in a state of ritual purity' (wudhu) and always performed the two-nafil salaat of wudhu. The ladies were told about how hell will be filled by a majority of women due to their being ungrateful. The Ulema were told about their tongues being cut by scissors of fire because they preached morality but they practised to the contrary.

When he told the general Sahaba about the meetings with the different Prophets, he also mentioned how he saw Musa (Alai' his salaam) in his Blessed Grave. The words of the Hadith are Kana yusalli fi qabrihi. The word Salaat (yusalli) in Arabic means namaaz or prayer, and it also means, to send blessings (durood / salaam). So it could mean he saw Musa (Alai' his salaam) reading his namaaz or, my belief tells me that Musa (Alai' his salaam) saw the Holy Prophet (sallallahu alaihi wa sallam) and Musa (Alai' his salaam) sent salutations (durood o salaam) upon the Leader of the Messengers (Sayyid ul-mursaleen).

When he sat with the most special Sahaba, the four beloveds, (chaar yaar) and those that had deep knowledge coupled with inner illumination (Ashab us-Safa or Ahle Marifa), he told them about his seeing and experiencing of Allah (Didare Ilahi) and the spiritual connotation of the Mi'raj. [3]

10.5 We must also believe that all the Sahaba are Jannatis. This is so because they loved and respected our Nabi Muhammad (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) more than their own lives and sacrificed everything they had for him and for Almighty Allah's Deen http://www.raza.co.za/Children/Children_Fiqh%20Part%201.htm.

They received glad tiding not to enter hell power point

None of them will enter hell: Hudaibia parti nts power point

They consider al-Muhajireen (those who migrated from Makkah to al-Madeenah for Islam) to be superior to al-Ansar (the helpers of al-Madeenah who supported the Muhajireen). They have faith in what Allah has said about the 313 persons on the occasion of the battle of Badr that, 'they are free to do what they like, their sins are pardoned' [al- Bukharee]. And none of those who gave their pledge to the Prophet (s.a.w.) under the tree will get into Fire as the Prophet (s.a.w.) has stated, 'Allah is doubtlessly pleased with them and they are pleased with Allah.' And they were more than 1400 about whom the Prophet (s.a.w.) bore witness that they will be admitted to Paradise [Muslim]. The Ahlus Sunnah also bear witness the admission to Paradise for them such as the ten Companions who have been given glad tiding of Paradise in this world by the Prophet. [Al-aqeedatul Wasitiyyah of Shaikh ul-Islam Ibn Taymeeyah]

The Companions' Noble Deeds

''We believe that the Sahaba were not innocent of the minor or major sins, but their qualities and deeds were so virtuous and superior that they cause the pardon of the errors committed by them. We believe that if any of the Sahaba committed mistake, he either repented or performed such virtuous deeds that they are either pardoned or will be interceded for by the Prophet (s.a.w.) as they are most deserving of his intercession.http://www.islaam.com/Article.aspx?id=74 *

Shi'a view
The Shia judge the Sahaba based on their relations to the Ahlul Bayt and on their actions during the war between Ali and Muawiyah.

Sunni view
Isnad
...the Hanafis do not differ from the rest of the Sunnis in that Abu Bakrah is a Companion and the Companions are all Upright (udul) without exception among the Sunnis by Consensus as per Imam al-Haramayn and others. The Fiqh al-Akbar and Aqida Tahawiyya show no exception and from the first moments of the discussion on whose riwaya is accepted and whose not, the category of potentially impugned (qustioned) narrators is precluded (excluded) from the Companions of the Prophet, upon him blessings and peace. ref

According to the general Sunni school of thought, all of the Sahaba were truthful, reliable and Upright. Sunnis regard all Sahaba as great people and the best of Earth's generations. The second best are the taba'een, and the third are the following generation, the tabi' taba'een, and serve as a guide to humanity. Sunnis consider that the Sahaba may have different ranks, as explained by Sheikh Gibril Haddad :

Also:There is Consensus among Ahl al-Sunna that the Sahaba are all of the highest probity (udul); in addition, their precision (dabt) is not called into question except in cases of conflicting Companion-reports of equal strength, such as the corrections of our Mother A'isha for several reports from other Sahaba (although not all her corrections were retained). Ibn Rajab said the fatwa of Abu Bakr and Umar has precedence over all the rest. The upshot is that ALL the Sahaba are trustworthy (thiqa) in hadith without exception, but some more than others, e.g. the ahl al-fatwa and the senior ones. http://www.abc.se/~m9783/n/shb_e.html

In one article [4], Sheikh Faraz Rabbani notes:

Someone who speaks ill of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him, his family, and companions) has innovation (bida) in matters of belief, and is going against the way of Ahl al-Sunna in this matter. Speaking ill of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is a dangerous sign, and it is feared that such a person may have other methodological variancesfrom the way of mainstream traditional Islamic scholarship.
Shi'a view
Shi'a reject this view with multiple arguments especially since there is absolutely no evidence in the Qur'an of any such immunity with regards to all the companions of Muhammad nor the sub companion groups who followed later in history as being infallible and free from sin. Thus for anyone to say that to follow blindly any companion of Muhammad goes against the principles of the Qur'an which categorically states that obedience is strictly to Allah, Muhammad, and those authorized by Allah as leaders (4:59). Those authorized by Allah are referred by the Quran as Ul-ul-Amr, which certainly does not mean Sahaba.

The word Sahaba in its full form is Sahaba -e- Rasool Allah (Companions of the Messenger of God) itself means people who stayed in the company of the Prophet Muhammad , and it would be naive to say that all people who stayed in the company of the Prophet were pious. Had it been the case, the Prophet and his family would have been supported by influential Muslims rather than pagans during the rigourious three years in exile in Shaib-e-Abi Talib. Had all the companions be pious men of character, the muslim army would not have been defeated at Uhud. Did not the archers leave their stations to collect the booty and allowed Khalid Bin Walid to advance onto the Muslim Army from the rear? So can these greedy people who disobeyed the Prophet be considered as pious? Disobedience of the Prophet is disobedience of Allah!

The Shi'a hold the progeny of Mohammad to be the best of all people, as they (AS) teach the true doctrine of Islam and teaching of Muhammad (AS). The first Shi'a Imam Ali was specifically designated as the Prophet's successor in the hadith 'Man kunte maula, fahaza Ali - un- Maulao'. (Ali is the master of all those, whose master I am). And another hadith, 'I will have twelve Caliphs and all of them will be from Quraysh', thus solidifying the claim of the twelve Shia Imams. Both these hadiths can be found in the Sunni 'Sahah' (collection of hadiths).

Thus, if a group of companions ignore the Prophet and conspire against Ali (AS) to gain power and position, they are defying the Allah and His Messenger and depriving the progency of Muhammad (AS) of their right. Such people cannot be held pious of favourable is the eyes of Allah and His Messenger as they defied the word of God. True, they had the ultimate of honour being the company of the Prophet , but alas! not all of them were able to seek the true path and deviated from it for their personal gains. *

Innovation with regards to the Sharii Penalty of Cursing Sahaba by Sipah-e-Sahaba

Introduction

In this article we will an*lyse a controversial topic that forms the bulk of Salafi / Deobandi campaigns against the Shi'a - cursing the Sahaba. A mere glance of their sites and texts will suffice to determine that the main topic that they use to incite their blind followers to hate the Shi'a is this one. Never is a topic that generates greater emotion amongst Nasibi than this one. For these Nasibi this discussion creates a series of steps that if followed leads to an undeniable conclusion. The steps are as follows:

The Shi'a curse the Sahaba
Those that curse the Sahaba are kaafirs
The Shi'a are therefore kaafirs
Those that curse the Sahaba should be killed

Simple and logical for the followers of Mu'awiya to get their heads around, this theory carries one key flaw - it cannot be corroborated by the Qu'ran, Sunnah, the life of Rasulullah (s) or the Sahaba whose honour they seek to defend. Undeterred by this notable weakness they continue this propaganda line unabated, the reason is threefold:

It becomes an effective way to block out discussion with the Shi'a (like a Computer Shut Down - why talk to the Shi'a they are kaafir).

It is an effective deterrent mechanism aimed at reverts who might be more rational / willing to talk to the Shi'a (this method frightens confused / unsure reverts away from the truth).

It is a means of protecting the sacred institution of the Sahaba, by stemming and discussion / an*lysis of their wrong actions.

It becomes a tactical means of shedding the blood of the innocent Shi'a, killing Shi'as is justified, for they curse the Sahaba, the perpetrator of this heinous crime should be killed.

In Pakistan the Deobandi camp have proudly carried through this penalty, and have openly martyred thousands of innocent Shi'a, professional, academics, scholars, worshippers in mosques even women and babies have not been spared. For groups such as SSP all is perfectly legitimate since the elimination of those that curse the Sahaba is a religious duty.

In this article we have sought to place the assertion of these Nasibi under the microscope. The approach that these Nasibi apply on the Haq Chaar Yaar Website is just like that of baking a cake. They will create the base - cursing the Sahaba makes you a kaafir, and then add some additional ingredients (Fatwas of Sunni Ulema) to try and create legitimacy for their stance. Whilst we have already addressed such Fatwas in our article the creed of the Shi'a, this article shall seek to address this evidence from another angle.
Please see our article: The creed of Shia'a; explained

The bottom line is the base and ingredients that these followers of Mu'awiya have sought to present to the Sunni masses is without foundation, they have no Islamic basis for believing what they do, this Nasibi rhetoric is just a means to get a 'name' amongst the Nasibi clergy that will ultimately lead to generous cash hand outs from King Fahad. May Allah (swt) accept our intention, and bless Prophet Muhammad and his purified family. *
